the house has allowed such things to carry on

Savannah Jarvis

11 – 12 December 2021

what if the house was not something you ever chose to walk through the threshold of — not something separate from you, but an extension: a necessity. this house is acting dubiously. this house you have found yourself in is alive, it is in pain and it wants you off of its back.

the house has allowed such things to carry on is an exhibition of new work contemplating the idea of the body as a haunted house. influenced by the idea of the autonomous haunted house throughout video games and literature, this body of work considers your relationship with your body when chronic pain in present —  pain may make you distant from your body, it may make it seem unreal. to doubt and hold scepticism towards the structure of an inhabited space is, to me, entirely within the realm of the haunted house.
